View Full Version : Pleco changing colors?

I noticed a few days ago that my bristlenose has been changing color. When he is on the back of the tank(have black background) he turns so dark he looks black with no pattern. When he is on the plants he turns a dark brown with spots and when on the gravel he turns a patchy light brown with spots. Is this common with all bristlenoses?I have had plecos before but have never had them do this. I would guess he is changing with his environment but Ive never see this before...anyone else?

Hey, I just noticed that about my Pleco the other day too. When he is sitting on my light substrate he is a light brown. But when he is against my dark "coated" driftwood, he turns really dark brown. I also noticed that sometimes it looks like he has dark bands along his body.

I throught it was just me. :hmm3grin2orange:
