here it is my 12" knife fish. i don't know it is an albino or a royal one.

knife fish is a completely dissociable fish with a pretty weak eyesight but strong smell. they like dark places and if they find a good place they will stay there almost all the day. they are more active and go for hunting at the night. they are aggressive but don't like to begin the war unless someone violate their territory. they can do a destructive attack with their different, big and strong jaw.

they are hard to feed and won't accept many foods specially floating ones. but i have accustomed mine to eat my frozen mix. he eats from my hand.

hope it was useful.:11:

How big is your tank and whats the filtration? With the facts you wrote about him you probably you need a large tank and yours looks pretty small..

i love knifes. i had a clown knife but my severum killed it suddenly. i also raised a black ghost knife until fullgrown

nice knife! just so you know he needs a 300g fullgrown, same with the ID shark

and since their together youll need even more, and the ID sharks do better in groups of 3 and more.

if you wanted a single ID shark and knife together youre looking at 500g minimum. however, youve got time before they outgrow your tank

I don't know about 500g. For a single knife and ID sharks id be ready to put them into a 325-350 with like 3 Fluval 405's and an AC 110

oh again discussing about tank size and filtration!
they are unknown :D

cocoa_pleco, they are very vulnerable at the first days of entrance. you should provide them some good places to hide.

i had them living peacefully for 2 months, then the severum snapped.

oh thats odd. bad thing is they are not good scapees. weak sight and plane body. if a fish attack them it can get somewhere of their body anyhow!

Looks kind of like keeping a lion in a closet with a housecat!Your tank is way too small for them.

The tank size was already discussed in another thread about his oscars, i hope this topic doesn't get beaten to death either, btw cool fish!

In answer to your question, or what I believe to be a question anyways...

Your Clown Knife is an albino....

I kinda miss mine. Yours looks just like him. However he was getting too big for my tank and I have no more room for big tanks (you did notice I said big tee hee, thats what I keep telling the wife, and then spontansiously overnight up pops a 5g or 2 1/2g...)

very nice knife.....i see them in my LFS all the time and i love them but there is no way i could afford that size of tank and i would have no where to put it. lol.

its too small, but as long as you keep the water quality as good as it seems in the picture you have a good while roomwise before you need another tank

your fish look very cool! I like the surround of your tank too is it real wood or is it like malamine?

Ocellatus

no its not wood. its just a wood patterned tape. any kind of them can be found here. different colors, patterns, width, ...
in my opinion its a simple but important thing that make a simple tank look cool.

yep, its a pattern, my 20g high is decorated like that. its just fake material vinyl

actually it hurts. it causes damage to the knife fish skin because pleco considers it as food! yesterday i took the shot and removed the pleco. little pleco could down the big knife fish after a while!

Nice knife fish Blu-ray! :c10: I like knife fish, I have always wanted a clown knife but I believe they get even bigger than the kind you have!! Cool fish though...

This has nothing to do with your fish but I am curious, what kind of pH do you have in Iran? Is your water hard or soft? Just curious! :ezpi_wink1:

thank you 2many!
yeah they get very big. more than 3 times of mine! its 12" now and i think they go over 36"
biggest one i've seen in an aquarium here was more than 24"

mine is so aggressive, when i was keeping it with my oscars in a small tank, even my 10" male oscar wasn't brave enough to go close to it.
and some months ago this fish chased my female O in the avatar and poor O jumped out of the tank!!
after all it could do nothing against little pleco :hmm3grin2orange:

about PH, i've not measured it! but right now i aksed it in an Iranian forum and inform you soon :ezpi_wink1:
i even don't have a NO2/NO3/NH3 test kit

ٍEDIT :
water PH in my city is something between 7.5 and 8.5
