Are there any othe fish that can swim backwards? Some one once told me about two types of fishes besides the electric eel who can swim backwards. How is it that they can swim backwards. Is it because of the electic impulses they have?

Most fish have some sort of capability of swimming backwards but some can do it as well as they swim forward. Take my black ghost knife and clown knife for example. My clown knife backs himself into his cave ( I call the garage) as he waits for food. My BGK swims foward,backward, up, and down like he doesn't have a care in the world.

My large Golds also swim backwards when they lock them selves into a corner. they get their fins all destorted and rip on out of there.

Lets make an anology, with the supose that all fish can swim both forword and backwords.

Take the eals, i will compare them with a train (due to their body shape), a train can go forword, and the it arrives to a stop in a terminal station, and gos backwords, with the same velocity, aceleration, etc...
Take other fish, i will compare to a car, it gos forword, 1st gear, it shifts to 2nd, and then 3rd..., when it goes back word it just has one gear, and if you are not a good driver, it loks a bit unsteady.
