My dark colored female betta sometimes changes to light color, and has two horizontal stripes like ====, does anyone know why that happens?
That is a sign she is ready to breed!

hell no gm !!!!!!!!! Thats l l l l vertical..The dark colored females turn colorless when frightened specially when you buy them new. But they will adjust to their new environment and turn back to their own color , just make sure she's happy and healthy.
Most of my females did that too...I was wondering about colour types in females...and if it was a juvenile camouflage of some sort...
But now that they are mature I don't see the striping anymore...they retain their bright colours...

Easy there, cowboy. I misunderstood the stripes the poster was describing.
