Do you know which type of rainbows they are?

yes, I have 4 bosemoni rainbows, 3 new guinea rainbows, 3 parkinsonas rainbows, I have the fancy light across the top that really brings out their colors. The fish are large each rainbow about 4 inches. I also have a couple blue gouramis. Do I need a chinese algae eater or a pleocatumus? I don't have any algae and my tank stays clean.

what is the idea ph for rainbow, and are the test strips accurate? I have always used the strips but lately after a couple fish have died, the fish store tested my water with a test kit, and determined my water ph at 7.8. I'm trying to bring it down with ph decrease liquid, but not helping. I am not overly sure about hte acid buffer they recommended, my water is extremely hard.

OH....I have a question about aquarium plants, I have only the artifical ones from the pet stopre right now, last time I tried live plants, I got major snail problems and was a disaster, Q can you put in any plastic flowers from the flower department after washing, or do they have to be just for aquariums?
