My keyhole cichlids' colour can vary quite a bit. Here's brother and sister (not sure about the sex). The one on the left was taken in a darker area of the tank and in a darker mood (he was defensive because he saw me above him). When they are mad or sad or scared they go dark, and darker the environment, the darker they become. The one on the right is in the front of the tank, curious, and lit with flash. That's what they look like when they're happy.
