Beautiful cat, lived a long full life as well, I used to have one until my neighbor set some antifreeze in his driveway. Sorry for your loss but like I said, he lived a long full life.

Oh Spyder. I am so sorry your cat is gone. To have him for 16 years says much for the good care you gave him in his lifetime. Please take comfort in the knowledge you gave him a very loving and happy home for many, many years.

Thanks everyone, the house seems so strange without him.

Now my 14 year old pure breed Bangle has come up sick. Something with an infection in his liver. The whites of his eyes turned yellow! He is having a stay at the Vet Hospital. I hope he pulls through, he is my wifes shadow at home, his name is Sparkles.

Oh Man, I am so Sorry to hear about this Spyder. I had a cat for 17 1/2yrs(from the day I came home from the Hospital with my parents after being born until I was a mother myself a young one at that) and when she passed it was so hard for me to deal with. So having gone through it, I know what you must be feeling and that SUX. I am so sorry it's hard I know but things will be OK.

Think of it this way, he had given you 16yrs of his life, pure happiness for him I am sure. That was 16yrs to love him and create memories and that's a long time, longer then most people get with their pets. So remember all of the good, funny, cool things he did for you and our family and cherish them.

Also maybe...just maybe this might be a little comforting to you and your family to know that he will be waiting at Rainbow Bridge for you to help him crossover to heaven. I dont know if he had any health issues, and at his age I'm sure he did(my17yo sure as heck did) but if by any chance he was in any pain or discomfort he is no longer dealing with that and to me that could be the greatest thing for any pet receive. Specially one that has given someone that much time and happiness just by being with them and by just being in their lives.

Bless his little soul and I hope you remember to stop by rainbow bridge to pick him up before going to heaven when the time comes. Until them put your favorite picture of him in a common spot in your home and talk to it often...even if people think you are crazy...lol I know it sounds dumb but it really helps. Specially with a pet like a cat or dog, or any pets that we can touch and bond with, always leave our hearts heavy when their time comes. Hope this helps you. God Bless!

Whoops I didn't read the last thread made about Sparkles.

Man Spyder, I hope he is going to be OK! You are not having the luck with your pets at all right now. The poor darlings! Well, lets all pray the vet's can fix him up and he will be back home good as new in no time. Also not that it matters with me because my babies are so important to me, that money isn't a thing if it's going to help them, I'd beg borrow and steal as would any parent for their child(Dunno bout you all but I think of my pets like my children) but it would be great if on top of fixing him up the final Vet Bill wouldn't be too hefty either....lol Good Luck and please keep us updated on Sparkles.

Those were some really nice things you said Bonnie :)

Thanks Megan, I just know how bad it hurts and those are some of the things I did to help my healing process so I could try to move on and accept it. So I figured why not share them with a friend in need.

Spyder, Thanks! I am glad to share them and hopefully help you and your family in this time of sorrow. Any news on Sparkles yet?

Yes, Sparkles was hand fed today and is getting an IV to combat his dehidration. He did not throw up, which is what he was doing constantly. The Vet said that all is going well and there is no need to make any changes to his meds. I may be able to bring him home on Monday.

Aww man sorry to hear about your cats. 16 years is a good haul though! Sure he enjoyed every last minute of those years. I had to have my dog put down not that long ago when he got hit by a car. we had him 8 or 9 years and he was most definatly part of the family. It was a sad moment and I know how you would be feeling right now.

14 years is a long time to have a companion, I certainly hope Sparkles gets over his illness.

Well, Sparkles is still at the Vet.
I heard from him today, they got test results. Not good news, Sparkles has gotten much worst. He is not responding to the antibiotics. They are trying to get a specialist in on Thursday to perform a sonogram and do a biopsy of the Liver. If they can't get him in I will have to bring him myself to another specialist that's an hour ride to have it done. Sparkles is one of those cats that don't travel well.

Sparkles has had another complication. They tested his Blood Clotting ability prior to his sonogram and biopsy for tomorrow and the found problems of abnormalities. This means that they will probably do a major surgical procedure on him.

My wife went to visit him yesterday and today, she is really heartbroken.

I spoke to my brother-in-law, who is a Vet and he was not very optimistic about the situation.

Just so you all know, this is Sparkles

Well, bad news. Sparkles has Lymphoma...cancer. It is pretty much incurable. The Vet said we could try Kemo but it would only make him more sick and give him maybe a few extra months. The other option is Steroids which should give him a temporary remission, rarely not temporary so we are going to try that.

I wish you great luck and peace through this Michael. We put down our Patches this past July. She was ALMOST 20. It was time weather we were ready or not. Give her lovins while you can and take her pain away when she needs you.

My wife and I decided no more cats for us right now but I cheat. We have a colony of ferals where I work that is nearly 30 cats. I am now incharge of a TNR program that we hope to start very soon as I just got funded this past Tuesday.

Sorry about Sparkles too. As much as you love them, sometimes you have to figure out if spending all that money on them really will make them better or just prolong their illness. I spent $750 trying to cure a cat only to spend more to put her to sleep. It's hard when they are a family member sometimes to remain objective.

Sparkles has decided to join Pudgie in a deep sleep...forever.

He was the spark that lit up our house

I will miss him greatly

I am so sorry to hear of both your cats going. They will now be keeping each other company in rainbow heaven.

Maybe you and the wife need to get another kitty to bring happiness back into your home and make the void without the others more tolerable.

Sadly, a third cat has come up ill. This is my 11 year old Calico. Her name is Confetti. She has been diagnosed with Lymphoma of the Liver, Same as my Bangal, Sparkles. Here entire Liver is infected so it is advanced. This is so heartbreaking and confusing.

Thank you for listening, Michael
