my LFS has some sort of worm looking thing they call a wormfish. Its not quite as big around as a dime but is long and blackish brown in color. they said its a bottom feeder. does anyone know what this is and where i can get more info on it? it costs $14 but its kind of cool looking.
It most likely a Rope Fish (Erpetoichthys calabaricus)

the one they have is round and a lot darker in color than that ropefish. they are almost a dark blood red/brown color.

Yeah, I wondered if it was a black kuhli loach, but Kaga's got a kuhli as her avatar. I'd think she'd know what a kuhli looks like! :hmm3grin2orange:
I'm curious to find out what this fish is, too.
Is it freshwater?

ok. lets see.....
definately not a kuhli loach.
it is about as big around as my pinky finger, so not as big as a dime. it is definately round, not flat. it is a dark reddish/blackish/brown. it is somewhere between 6"-12" long. it like to hide and is supposed to be mainly a bottom feeder. it has no visible scales or ridges....looks completely smooth.
i think that about does it for a description.....maybe i'll have to go take a pic of it or something for you, lol.

no it looks nothing like a loach....and has no bands on it. its all one color and looks just like a long worm.

I KNOW WHAT YOURE TALKING ABOUT! 2 years ago i bought something that EXACTLY fits your description, and he was labeled as a clown loach but obviously wasnt one. he was about 8", and had black, red, and white like a cornsnake kinda, and was long like a worm. he was cool but i never found out what he was

Its not a fish but an amphibian, lol. It's called a caecilian worm.

they are neat but get about 2 ft and will eat small fish....so they aren't good for community tanks....darn. guess i wont be getting one then.
LOL That definately explains why we couldn't guess at what it was...
