What would be my best best buy for a heater for a 29 gallon, I diffently want a submerseable one? I thought about ordering through Petsmart due to their over $50.00 free shipping, it would cost me about 20.00 to drive to and from Petsmart around here so I thought it might be easier to save money and order on line. I am going to get a heater and filter for my tank and then set it up as soon as they arrive, hopefully.

One other thing, the stand is black and cast iron I believe and is setting on the floor that has those wood slats you put together from Home Depot or so. I have notice that the stand is not perfectly level cause you can jiggle it and the either one or two at some time or another will have some space between it and the floor. Is it a must for the stand to be perfectly level to set up the tank, just don't want it to leak and have to explain to my landlord why his floor got flooded. My other option is to maybe go to walmart and buy a stand in the box and set it up, don't want to do this if not needed since my iron stand was free.

Even with PetSmarts free shipping, I still get better deals at BigAl's but I generally will order from whoever has everything that I want. I recently switched to the Stealth heaters. No glass to break and automatic shut-offs.

i agree, go to bigalsonline. i have visi-therm stealth heaters in all my tanks, they are great, and dont cost very much at big als. I have a 100 watt in my 29 gal.

...and DO NOT buy a Petsmart brand heater (TopFin)...

Yup...a 100 watt stealth on a 29 would work fine.

Are the marineland stealth heaters any good from petsmart? Also would a 200 watt heater be to large for the 29 gallon.

Yes and possibly.

Stealth heaters rock.

200W Heaters are more appropriate to a 40+ gallon tank at the smallest and 65 gallon tank at the top. 3 to 5w per gallon of tank is a good measurement.

If you are in a Cold Climate 150w is more appropriate otherwise a 100w.

I am going after an Aqua Clear Filter from Petsmart and thought I might as well get one of the Marineland Visi-therm Stealth Heaters, the 100 runs aprox. 17.99 and the Filter will run me around 30.00 or so, so I figure with free shipping I should get by with 60.00 or less to start setting up my tank.

Sure will, have to run it past the boss first. I have 2 jobs at the moment, working in the Radiology department at the local hospital about 15 hr. a week plus 40 hr. at our clinic so hopefully my wife will give me the thumbs up on using some money. Have to admit though if it wasn't for her taking care of the bills and money we'd be living out on the streets or close to it. But I'm sure she'll let me do it, I'll keep my fingers crossed.

A clean running aquarium serves a great source of self satisfaction and relaxation although cleaning is another story altogether.

What size filter? You need a filter registered for about 60g, always divide in half what the filter says it can handle so if it's a 30g filter, it can handle about 15g. I agree with the stealth heaters, they are the only way to go and thats what I keep in all of my tanks.
