I've got a pair of gouramis, I took their pics, but they never really swim together. Also the male chases the female once he saw her. Is it normal or aren't they a pair?
Since they don't swim together, I had to use photoshop

My male chases my female and nips at her all the time, yet they spawned together a couple weeks ago.
I think my female wants to spawn again, since she keeps pursuing the male, only to have him chase her away again. Poor forsaken thing.
Hope that helps!

Thanks so much, that really helps.
You should carefully check the dorsal fin of your female. Sometimes the pet stores confuse the female dwarf gourami with the solid blue male dwarf gourami.
You should try to make them spawn. If you can not get some floating plants, then you can try using the inverted bottom of a styrofoam cup. So that the male can build up the bubble net. If they spawn you do have a couple.
But don't worry about one chasing the other, mines do even between females.
good luck.

That is a male flame, and it looks very much like a true dwarf female. If this is the case, they will totally mate although not a 'true pair' (It is, I think, only a matter of colouring and different breeding - the flame is a variation on the true dwarf), at least mine did! Male dwarfs are nippy with everyone else, including the females. Plenty of lush greenery should mitigate, although not alleviate, the problem.

i have a pair
it is a bit strange though
one is a big blue gouarmi who is about 8 cm long and a much smaller golden gourami
i am not exactly sure if they will breed but they stick together all the time

What can I do to make the male build a nest? Is there anything else I should do besides putting some floating plant?

Here's another pic of the female
you have a really pretty female dwarf gourmi, congrats.
See how the dorsal fin is rounded at the end? the male is more sharpened.

Her dorsal fin was pointed, I don't know what happened one day it looked like she was dying, but she didn't, and her fin became rounded, is that normal, or is that a male?
I have a pic from that day.
