do plants aways need to be planted,
most of mine float, is it ok to let the plants flost and will they still stay alive?

If they feed frome a rhiozome, its ok, but I would tie them to something.
If they have a root system, its best to plant them in a nutrient rich substrate, or regular substrate with fert tabs, so they can get their proper nutrients from there.

It really depends on the plant. Most enjoy being planted though.

I have some amazons floating and some ferns because I haven't a tank to put them right now. Those amazons get so huge that I don't know what to do with them, really. I have 2 in a 20 gallon that will need to come back out and 3 in my 55. Don't know how I ended up with so many of them!
What plants do you have? Most plants will do fine floating, and often I am able to get plants to propagate quickly by letting them float. However it depends on the plant.
