I have some danios, serpaes, and phantoms in a tank. today i noticed one of the phantoms swimming hear the top, while everyone else is lower down in the tank.....i looked closer at him and he is missing his tail! someone ripped if off of him, cause he was perfectly fine yesterday......will it just grow back or is he gonna end up dieing??? none of the other fish seem to be bothering each other, but he was a little smaller than the others....so i dont know who did it.

As long as its not an ongowing thing and just this one time it will grow back fine, do you know what fish were nipping? you may have to move thme if this happens again.

Serpaes did it, and they will probably continue to pick on him until he's dead.

Serpaes are notorious fin nippers unless kept in relatively large groups. Typically that is, and your mileage may vary!

i got 7 and they dont nip so i guess thats a good number, add some melafix or something to help with his wounds too

I wouldn't do melafix, but add some stress coat or other such general slime-coat replacement. I just try not to add meds unless absolutely necessary.

just keep a eye on it and make sure the fish isnt getting an infection or fungus or anything else
