I need help from anyone who would know. I asked a question below about a sick neon. I get up this morning and he is now swimming on top of water. He is pointing straight up and looks like he is getting oxygen from the air. I don't know what he has but if he is suffering and will not recover I'd like to quickly get him out of misery. I can't stand to watch him suffer. I am new to fish. These are actually my 10 yr.olds fish and we have had them for about a year. Please tell me if there is anything I can do or do I quickly get him out of his misery.
Neon tetra or Neon dwarf gourami?

it sorta sounds like swim bladder to me...but yeah what kind is it?? Tetra or gourami?
If it is a neon tetra, I agree that it sounds like swim bladder or neon tetra disease. If it is the gourami, they are labyrinthine fish and do surface to breathe.

if its swim bladder, he should be able to recover if you maintain healthy water and feed him a good diet

cause it is nutritional too....so if it doesn't help the fish is getting a treat.
