View Full Version : Just a word from Mods

Sometimes when we hang around a place a bit, we get comfortable and start to get a bit lax on a few things. I am certainly no prude but we have to remember that all types of people come here and these posts can be viewed by guests and young children. We don't want to offend others by cursing too much. We are not home here altho we like to make you feel that way and this is not a chat room. Messages here are stored for a long time.

I don't mind a cuss word now and then but please....never start a thread with a cuss word especially. These threads come up in Google searches. Mods can edit posts but can not edit titles.

If you happen to write a new thread and the header says: My Damned Goldfish Died! and someone does a search for "goldfish", up pops your post on the search bar. This casts a negative look on AC.

Also, your blogs and your Avatars are also viewed by others. Your blog does not need the F*** added and it adds nothing to your message. Please clean up blogs and Avatars that may reflect badly to AC. Some avatars may be cute but not necessarily belong on this site.

Now and then it's nice to take a peek at the Forum Etiquette thread just to remind ourselves.

Thanks a bunch

I'm not a mod, but I totally agree with this. If you must show cursing (which I have done here) use a random mix of symbols not the word.

I agree, but to be honest, I haven't really noticed a problem. Maybe some have been deleted already?

Just a couple of obeservations or comments you may want to take in to consideration though.

First of all, what would you consider a cuss word? I can understand the "F" word or the "S" word. But what about "H - E - double hockey sticks" or "A$$"?

Also, one needs to remember that this is an international site where some members may not have had English (let alone North American prude like upbringing) as a first language so a slip of the tounque is could be more likely and acceptable in their frame of thinking.

Like I said, I agree, most of it is just plain common sense and consideration, so if we do slip up, a quick message to the offender would be in order.

Also, one more thing.

Alot of us link to videos on youtube/vimeo/what have you. Some might have quasi-questionable languange or content. Please put a disclaimer in front of the link when such a video is posted.

1. i usually delete all the curse words.

2. any word that you would consider questionable is best not to add in a post or thread.

3. good point on the international members. a lot of the slang words could definitely be confusing to them:c12:
