hello!
i have just bought an aquarium. i had one years ago with my dad but we got rid of it. im just starting off and im a bit nervious after reading about all this cycling stuff!!! haha
at the moment im just gettin the temp sorted and that. obviously i have cleaned the rocks etc but the water smells like chlorine... will it go?
i cant stop talking about fish and my tank in world. proper annoying everyone ! ha! but so!
hopefully i'll be able to find out more info on here from people. the place i bought the tank from said go in next week with a water sample so they'll test it. fingers crossed it will be okay to buy fish.
i only have a 'small tak' but its big enough for my room. its about 2 1/2 feet long. any suggestions about fish and how many?
anyway! hello and hope to chat soon!

Greetings and welcome to AC!!!!
Make sure you are treating your water to remove Chlorine and Chloramine.
You can use various products such as Prime, etc.
let us know if we can help out.

hi and welcome to the forums, for your tank to cycle your gonna need a source of ammonia and your also gonna need a master test kit, read up on fishless cycle in the beginner section and read the free e book in the menu to your left, it'll give you lots of valuable info

Welcome to the A.C.!
Yes, that should be the product, but read it and make sure it says it removes chlorines, chlorimines, and other harmful metals.

Welcome, Phill!
The others here have given good advice. Just be aware, next week is probably too soon to be getting fish, unless you're planning to cycle with fish. But that's traumatic for both the fish and the fish owner as the fish are likely to get sick and/or die. (I know this from experience. :scry:)

Welcome!
It's a smaller tank, so either fish that are small and stay small (eg. Tetras), or just a couple of larger fish.
Have a look at older threads - lots of people have asked this question, and it's still asked every month or so now!

Welcome to the A.C. Definitely go for the real plants. They're awesome and they add so much to the hobby. Just make sure to research on proper lighting. I messed up on that, but was able to correct it quickly.
You're definitely on the right track though with the fishless cycle. Making that move alone will guarantee you an easier start. Search the forums and ask the questions, and you'll find ALL the answers you're looking for around here. Good luck! :c5:
