I have been reading about these fish and some sites say freshwater and some say brackish..so which is it or do they just do better in brackish.

I also read about Brachygobius Aggregatus and they are like the bumblebee but smaller, social, and freshwater. has anyone kept these?

I have 6 bumblebee gobies in a 20g BW tank. This has been for about 8 months now. I keep the SG from .005-.010. I do 25 to 30% WC once a week and feed them live or frozen brine shrimp. They are excellent little guys to watch. Every morning when I turn on the lights to feed them they come out and dart around waiting for their breakfast.

I have read where others have kept them in FW and they don't survive very long.

I think you will enjoy them. I do.
