All platys and swordtails can hybridize. Most platys in LFSes are hybrids already...

So yes, they will interbreed.

I'm a really firm believer in colony breeding. I have quite a few really cool looking guppies from this.

Basically you find outstanding specimens of the species with traits you like and through them all into a really big tank and let nature take its course. As you get traits you like you pull them out and place them into their own tanks so you then have a "new" strain....

One day you to will have a fish room or house.... it is only a matter of time.

I live in a 720 square foot house and I have close to 1000 gallons of tanks in it.... so uh... if there is space for a tank, and in a few cases even if there wasn't there is a tank there.

o and i was wondering if anyone happen to knew how long it takes for tetras and danios to lay eggs, like from the time there pregnant to the time there about to lay eggs

Yeah i know...i picture that too. lol..

Sorry but i don't know how long it takes...but i heard that with the tetras you can usually see the eggs and after that it doesn't take long...but don't forget that tetras are VERY HARD to breed.

o well i have 3 black skirts and mine have always been so skinny...but maybe i got males lol....yeah wel my glowlights are really really fat (wel like 4 out of the 10 ) so i think that they are going to breed but like the other fish in the tank will just eat the eggs so if you think that that are going to breed...set them in a tank with marbles on the bottom and very heavily plantes with lots of fine leafed plants. The marbles act for a spot for the eggs to drop so that the fish can't eat them and the fine leafed plants are for the eggs to also hath on.

I hope that all of this helps.

it doesn't have to be that big...about 10 gallons 15 gallons...somewhere alogn there. bigger would be ok if you wanted to go bigger.

Hi all, just out of interest, i have a rather large basement 1,300 sq ft. Would it be possible to have set ups in thereeven though there is no natural light source?

as long as you have good lights for your tanks then absolutley, if you have live plants make sure you get at least 2 watts per gallon
