While not our most exciting purchase, we just got 3 Otocinclus Catfish. We'd gotten rid of our Chinese Algae Eater 2 weeks ago because he was too big and too aggressive. However, he must have been doing a splendid job cleaning the tank, because in 2 weeks, that tank had become FILTHY! Our 2 little Amanos just couldn't keep up, lol. We were looking at the Bristlenose Plecos, but we've got tons of plants that they would chomp away on, so we opted for the Otos. We put one in our breeder tank overnight and now it's spotless. But anyway, new fish are new fish and we're excited!

I think an Otto purchase is exciting. Why do you think Bristlenose will chomp on your plants/ I have 5 adults & a hundred juvi's and they don't bother my plants.

I'd talked to 2 people that told me they would eat any broad-leafed plant, and I'm protective of my plants, so I didn't want to take any chances. Plus the Otos we got were actually really pretty. They were spotted.

Plus, looking at you tank being 10g a Bristlenose would have been way to big, good choice.

how big do those guys get? I was thinking on adding some to my 55.

From what I hear, they stay really small, like 2". But for a 55g, you'd probably have to get quite a few of them.

well in that case, i probably will just go with some type of pleco that doesn't get too big. Nice fish either way.

I hear the Bristlenose Pleco does really well. But they will eat your plants, so if you do have plants, you may want to opt for something other than a Pleco.
