looks REALLY good!
Thanks so much! The positive feedback truly means a lot since I am just venturing into the planted tank venue. The 40 watt fixtures should show up any day now.
Here's a question--dosing 2x per week with Seachem Flourish. Do you think I am in good shape for ferts or should I change something?
Thanks again for the support--a planted tank is indeed a beautiful thing. No idea why it took me this long to jump in!

One cool thing is that the wood to the left of the tank is a cut-off from the main piece on the other tank. It had this piece jutting out from the back and it didn't work. My compound miter saw didn't like cutting mopani, very tough. Caught the blade twice!

Simply dosing Flourish IMO isn't going to be enough. Flourish is just the trace elements. You need to does for macros as well. Flourish does make a whole of ferts. that work pretty well. I should add though, for the plants I see you might get away with it. The swords are big root feeders, you may want to put a couple fert. tabs in the gravel below them. Just my opinions though.

Good information, I was wondering about the ferts. I"m new to planted tanks, so I'll take all the advice I can get.

GM,
I use Florish for the leaves, and Aquarium Landscapes potassium. Muy substrates are good enough, I don't worry a lot about chelated iron.
I've been testing Mark Weiss' Nature Aquarium Vital, and like it a lot.

Tanks look great GM. I lOVEEEE the second tank it seems to POP out a little bit more then the other. Great job!!
I added some more plants today, some Mondo grass (hope it is truly the aquatic variety), giant baby tears, and...well, another one. It honestly looks like dill weed and was bundled like my hornwort.
Dave, what substrate are you using, out of curiosity?

VERY NICE TANKS!!!!! I wish that i could get my tank to look like that and i have been trying the plants for about 3 years now and i have never got mine to look like yours before. I think that i need to buy some good fertilizer for them.
But VERY NICE tanks. i am in love with them. lol.:malelovies:
Thanks to all for the positive encourangement!
I got my new lights today but have to wait to mount them until the glass tops get here. This is SO much fun!
