I removed my platies from the tank about 4 days ago and already I have algae and bits of tuffs of algae on my grass plant. The platies keep all that stuff cleaned up. They went back in the tank today.

Platies or Platy's? I spell it both ways but don't know which is correct. Does that old rule "change the y to i" apply here? :)

Platies are natural grazers, and though no as much as Mollies, need the vegitation in their diets. Natural for them to eat algae.

well i don't know about the spelling lol...i use both......well my 5 (well 15 nw with 10 fry) keep my tank VERY clean and my cories just sit on the bottom of the tank looking at my through the glass.

Like before i got my swordtails....my plastic green plant had algae all over it and now with the swordtails it looks bran spnkin' new. lol.

My corys don't clean....they just scoop their whiskers in the dirt and eat wafers when I put them in.

Platies, Swordtails and Mollies are great in keeping the algea on plants in check.

Cories are great if you tend to overfeed. My cories love those dirty spots in my tank, especially if I redecorate a bit, and all the debris which was hidden before shows up.

A real cory playground.

platys are great algae eaters. even with 200W on my 55g my small common pleco and single platy take care of all the algae
